    Car crime in Swansea

OK, so I went back to Swansea to visit family. This is what I ended up sorting out over the weekend - it's fairly self explanatory!!!

Notice the yellow sweet bag on the floor - they even took the jelly babies and mints from the drivers door!!!

AutoGlass couldn't replace the window on Saturday and I had to take it to them on Sunday. This is what happened on the way to AutoGlass.....

    Dad to the rescue!!

So thanks to those guys that gave me an expensive weekend - you did leave some nice fingerprints though so I hope this weekend comes back to haunt you!!

    Better late then never!!

OK, So i've not added anything to my page since I went to North Wales back in November!! I did survive and I did come back!! Was a great holiday, got to the summit of Snowdon but it was cold and wet, actually it was Bloody Freeeezing!! After we packed up our picnic and descended a little though it was a spectacular clear view! For those who've been we went up the Miner's track and came down to Llanberis via the railway track.

We returned to our massive rented house and enjoyed a lovely sauna! What a birthday!!

I will add some pics when I found the disc.....!

Big Mud Puddles and Sunny Yellow Dandelions!!!

Big Mud Puddles and Sunny Yellow Dandelions
    Author Unknown

When I look at a patch of dandelions, I see a bunch of weeds that are going to take over my yard.
My kids see flowers for Mom and blowing white fluff you can wish on.

When I look at an old drunk and he smiles at me, I see a smelly, dirty person who probably wants money and I look away.
My kids see someone smiling at them and they smile back.

When I hear music I love, I know I can't carry a tune and don't have much rhythm so I sit self-consciously and listen.
My kids feel the beat and move to it. They sing out the words. If they don't know them, they make up their own.

When I feel wind on my face, I brace myself against it. I feel it messing up my hair and pulling me back when I walk.
My kids close their eyes, spread their arms and fly with it, until they fall to the ground laughing.

When I pray, I say thee and thou and grant me this, give me that.
My kids say, "Hi God! Thanks for my toys and my friends. Please keep the bad dreams away tonight. Sorry, I don't want to go to Heaven yet. I would miss my Mommy and Daddy."

When I see a mud puddle I step around it. I see muddy shoes and dirty carpets.

My kids sit in it. They see dams to build, rivers to cross, and worms to play with.

I wonder if we are given kids to teach or to learn from? No wonder God loves the little children!
Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

I wish you Big Mud Puddles and Sunny Yellow Dandelions!!!

    Next Weekend!!

OK, I'll miss out this weekend as it's not particularly exciting. I worked yesterday then went to see Annie the Musical which was OK. Today I have had a VERY lazy day. One of those days you spend all day in PJs!

BUT next weekend I am so excited about! Like a kid in a sweet shop!

I am going to North Wales for a week! I love the mountains and am looking forward to going up Snowdon with my mates, some of whom have never been so they excited too! It might rain (probably) and be cold (probably) but when you're wrapped up nice and warm it's very refreshing being out in the fresh air. Then to come back to a warm house, or pub!, with real fire and bottle of red wine......

    Sorry, I'm getting carried away!

    We're there for Halloween

    then it's my birthday!

Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me...!

So hopefully I'll have lots of pics and things to write about when I get back!

BTW, Henson  is coming with me so that will be fun!! He He!

    bye for now
    xx

    Weekend 3!

OK, so still trying to catch up with me blogs - last weekend I went on a walk around Riverford organic farm. Didn't see as many crops as last time I went though. Still managed to pick lettuce, celery, fennel, cherry tomatoes, chillies, raspberries, blackberries. um, think that's it!!

Here's a pic of me with my goodies!

Then we went for a meal in their 'Garden Kitchen'! Was very nice! Pretty informal as everyone sat together then food was dished out in serving bowls to pass around. The food was a bit posh but was very yummy and plenty of it! Felt very wholesome as all food was organic even though we'd eaten loads of it!!

Then went to their farm shop and I bought some sausages with sundried tomatoes and also steak! That's a big thing for me as I used to be a veggie for quite a while. Anyway, managed to cook the steak to perfection probably by some fluke but my guinea pig, I mean friend was suitably impressed!

    Weekend 2 !!

Ok, so following schoolmates visit previous weekend, Seth came down and we did some more walking and seeing places. Got a water taxi across to Cornwall and did a 9 mile walk to Kingsand and back. Unfortunately it rained most of the way there but it did clear up by the time we reached Kingsand and we were looking forward to a pasty and cup of tea! (I must be getting old!)

Found a cosy little cafe where lots of tables were laid out and a group of old dears were gathering! They all got together and sat down for their tea and sarnies then they sang Happy Birthday to Tiny! Tiny's 86!   So we all joined in celebrating Tiny's birthday.

One of the ladies kept turning around to us and Seth said eventually "It was my birthday yesterday". So then they all sang Happy Birthday to Seth! He was very embarrassed having all these old ladies sing to him! He's 36!

We had some of Tiny's birthday cake and were also offered some wine but declined - we were on an afternoon walk and I thought I'd need a wee if I drank alcohol!

While we were at the cafe someone came in and said that a car was in it's roof in Fore Street so we all went out to have a look! (Kingsand is a very small village so having a birthday party for an 86 year old AND a car on it's roof in the same day is probably all the excitement gone for the year! Having said that, flipping a car on it's roof in such a narrow street is no mean feat! BTW, no-one was injured in either fiasco!!)

So, after practically everyone in the village grabbing a shot at this unfortunate event all the spectators dispersed and we carried on our walk to get the last water taxi back to Plymouth!

The evening was topped off with more hilarity from Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit!! Ha Ha Ha! Go see it!!

    Weekend 1 !

Hey! Not written anything for a while - work been really busy and the weekends have been filled with entertaining visitors!

Firstly Bethan and Melissa came down. Went to see a few places including Fowey (pron Foy like Joy!) - a lovely little town in Cornwall with lots of little cobbled streets on a steep hillside on the River Fowey. For the literary, it's also famous for being home to Daphne du Maurier.

This photo was actually taken from Polruan on the other side of the river looking across to Fowey!

We also went for a walk around the Barbican area of Plymouth and saw a lovely rainbow! Aah!

Why English is so difficult to learn!!

    1. The bandage was wound around the wound.
    2. The farm was used to produce produce.
    3. The dump was so full, that it had to refuse more refuse.
    4. We must polish the Polish furniture.
    5. He could lead, if he could get the lead out.
    6. The soldier decided to desert his dessert, in the desert.
    7. Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present.
    8. I did not object to the object.
    9. There was a row among the oarsmen, about how to row.
    10. They were too close to the door to close it.
    11. Upon seeing the tear in the painting, I shed a tear.
    12. How can I intimate this, to my most intimate friend?
    13. I live in a Inn, that plays live music.
    14. It's time to wind down the wind farm.
    15. Most common people, live on the common common.
    16. I shed my clothes in the shed.

There is no egg in eggplant, nor ham in a hamburger, neither apple nor pine in a pine-apple. English muffins weren't invented in England, nor French fries in France.  Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat.

We take English for granted, but if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square, and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea, nor is it a pig.  Why it is that baker's bake, but grocers don't groce?  If the plural of tooth is teeth. Why isn't the plural of booth beeth?

One goose, 2 geese.  So one moose, 2 meese?  One index, 2 indices?
If teachers taught, why don't preachers praught?  If a vegetarian eats vegetables. What does a humanitarian eat?
In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital?  We ship by truck and send cargo by ship?
How can we have noses that run, and feet that smell?
How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, when a wise man and wise guy are opposites?
You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language, in which a house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out, and in which an alarm goes off by going on.  English was invented by people, not computers and it reflects the creativity of the human race (which, of course, isn't a race at all).
That is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible.
And finally, how about when you want to shut down your computer, you
    have to hit "START"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember that you're perfect; God makes no mistakes

Maybe we're all different but we're still the same
We all got the blood of Eden running through our veins
I know sometimes it's hard for you to see
You're caught between just who you are and who you want to be

If you feel alone and lost and need a friend
Remember every new beginning is some beginning's end

    Welcome to wherever you are
This is your life; you made it this far
    Welcome, you got to believe
    That right here, right now
You're exactly where you're supposed to be
    Welcome to wherever you are

When everybody's in and you're left out
And you feel you're drowning in the shadow of a doubt
Everyone's a miracle in their own way
Just listen to yourself, not what other people say

When it's seems you're lost, alone and feeling down
Remember everybody's different; just take a look around

    Welcome to wherever you are
This is your life; you made it this far
    Welcome, you got to believe
    Right here, right now
You're exactly where you're supposed to be

Be who you want to be
    Be who you are
    Everyone's a hero
    Everyone's a star

When you want to give up and your heart's about to break
Remember that you're perfect; God makes no mistakes

    Welcome to wherever you are
This is your life; you made it this far
    Welcome, you got to believe
    Right here, right now
You're exactly where you're supposed to be
    And I say welcome…
    I say welcome…
    Welcome…

    Love is.....

    What does Love mean?

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, "What does love mean?"  The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think:

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't

bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my

grandfather does it for her all the time, even when

his hands got arthritis too. That's love."

          Rebecca- age 8

When someone loves you, the way they say your name

is different. You just know that your name is safe

in their mouth." Billy - age 4

"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts

on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each

           other." Karl - age 5

"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody

most of your French fries without making them give

you any of theirs." Chrissy -age 6

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."

           Terri - age 4

"Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and

she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make

sure the taste is OK." Danny - age 7

"Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you

get tired of kissing, you still want to be together

and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that.

They look gross when they kiss" Emily - age 8

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if

you stop opening presents and listen." Bobby - age 7

           (Wow!)

"If you want to learn to love better, you should

start with a friend who you hate," Nikka - age 6 (we

need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)

"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt,

then he wears it everyday." Noelle - age 7

"Love is like a little old woman and a little old

man who are still friends even after they know each

other so well." Tommy - age 6

"During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was

scared. I looked at all the people watching me and

saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one

doing that. I wasn't scared anymore." Cindy - age 8

"My mommy loves me more than anybody . You don't see

anyone else kissing me to sleep at night." Clare - age 6

"Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of

           chicken." Elaine - age 5

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and

still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford."

           Chris - age 7

"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after

you left him alone all day." Mary Ann - age 4

"I know my older sister loves me because she gives

me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new

           ones." Lauren - age 4

"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and

down and little stars come out of you." (what an

           imagination) Karen - age 7

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she

           doesn't think it's gross." Mark - age 6

"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you

mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a

lot. People forget." Jessica - age 8

And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo

Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked

to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the

most caring child. The winner was a four year old

child whose next door neighbour was an elderly

gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon

seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old

gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat

there. When his Mother asked what he had said to the

neighbour, the little boy said, "Nothing, I just

           helped him cry"

When there is nothing left but love, that is when

you find out that love Is all you need. Take 60

seconds and give this a shot! All you do is simply

          Say the following small prayer...

Bless all my friends in whatever it is that they may

be needing this day! And may their life be full of

your peace, prosperity and power, courage,

compassion and wisdom as he/she seeks to have

          a closer relationship with love.

    Play with Henson!

    my pet!

    Help!!

Not written anything exciting of late but thought some of you might like to see what I've got to put up with from

my troublesome teenager! He is very insistent on what he's doing and they only way I can stop him is to physically lift him and shut him in his room!

    Here's Henson.....

    Hayley's Page

I have just written to Hayley Okines. Hayley is a 7 year old little girl with an extremely rare genetic condition called Hutchinson Gilford Progeria Syndrome or Progeria.  Progeria accelerates the process of aging to about eight times the normal rate. A child with Hutchinson Gilford Progeria that is ten years old will have similar respiratory, cardiovascular, and arthritic conditions of that of an eighty year old.

Hayley was on a British TV programme this week and if you saw her you'd know what an inspirational little one she really is! She is always smiling and doesn't have a bad word to say about people who stare at her because she looks 'different'. In fact if more had had Hayley's outlook onlife the world would be a much better place.

Check out her cute smile -

Best Wishes Hayley, you're a star!

    just a quiet Saturday

Making the most of the weekend today - ie, doing nothing!

I did go to town this morning but it was a very unsuccessful trip! I went to buy walking pole from a shop that is closing for refit - they had absolutely STACKS of them last weekend. Only picked up one for me but thought I'd get another. They're all gone! They had masses of them! Oh,well I guess everyone else thought they were a good deal. Then I went to Boots to use my voucher off skincare range and they were out of stock of most things too! sigh!

I did get to pay in some cheques though and buy my niece a top from the sale in the Outdoors shop but that was it.

Have counted my sponsor money collected so far - £ 323. My Mum has collected another £ 100 or so for me! I am really pleased. Still waiting for us to appear in local paper.

Hope everyone's having a good weekend.

    September 05

    Smile for the camera!

Monday - the day I go back to work after 10 days off. I've been really busy with family visiting and the walk so it seems like I've been off a lot longer than that. Luckily I'm on a late shift so it's a bit of an easing back into work!

A quietish morning but got more nervous as the afternoon went on - the photographer from the local paper came around to take pictures of me and Liz in our NSPCC t-shirts and Great Walk medals. They are going to do a write up about our walk! I don't like being photographed but it's all for a good cause. The journo is going to do the interview over the phone when the photos are done, so I'll let you guys know when we make headlines!! Eek!!

Me thinks it's time for a cuppa now, not much else to do!

    Keep smilling!

    September 02

    I walked 26 miles!!

On 31st August I joined Karen Churches with my neighbour Liz and 6 others to walk the final leg of the Kelloggs Cornflakes Great Walk 2005. We were raising money for the NSPCC
We started walking just before 8 am from Godolphin Cross in Cornwall. By the time we reached Marazion a couple of hours later we were walking through a thunder storm with fork lightening! There was not much rain though and it was pretty cool!

On to Penzance and out the other side for a pub lunch then straight on to St. Just to meet the 10k walkers at Cape Cornwall. For those last few miles my right hip was hurting and it slowed me right down. I could keep going but not at the pace of the others. I just kept thinking about meeting my family at Cape Cornwall and hoping they'd remembered the Deep Heat I'd forgotten! They had and it was magic stuff! Managed to speed right up for the next part even though we had already clocked up more mileage than planned and this part of the coastal path was a bit tricky. Tiredness started to kick in just before Sennen Cove but when we reached the Cove we knew we were in the last mile and after the top of the hill any pain had disappeared and we rushed to get to the finish line.

We finished our walk just before 6.30 pm after completing 26 miles!!

Feeling not too bad considering, just wanted a cup of tea!!
